Amendment of Class D and E Airspace, Revocation of Class E Airspace; Montgomery, AL

Official abstract: This action proposes to amend Class D airspace for Maxwell Air Force Base (AFB), Montgomery, AL, by making administrative updates. It also proposes to amend Class E airspace from 700 feet by expanding it by 0.5 NM from a 7-mile to a 7.5-mile radius around Maxwell AFB to contain IFR departures, along with making administrative changes. Finally, it proposes to revoke Class E airspace from the surface around Maxwell AFB, as the airport no longer meets the qualifications for Class E surface area airspace. Controlled airspace is necessary for the safety and management of instrument flight rules (IFR) operations in the area.
