Safety Standard for Automatic Residential Garage Door Operators

Official abstract: In October 2025, updates to the entrapment protection provisions in the UL 325 standard were accepted under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 1990 (Improvement Act) for inclusion in the Commission's mandatory safety regulation for automatic residential garage door operators. In this direct final rule, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission) is amending the Commission's automatic residential garage door operators mandatory regulation to align with the changes in UL 325.
